New Days Delay - First the Lightning, Then / Limited Edition

"Erst der Blitz und dann" is the title of northern Germany's New Days Delay's second album. The album contains sixteen songs, located between New Wave, Electro-punk, Surf and Indie. Vocalist Insa sings German as well as English, which keeps the album refreshing throughout. With a variety this wide, the songs beautifully distinguish themselves from each other, a quality that started to show on their first album.

With titles like “Stereokatastrophe” and “Tiny Monsters & Furry little Creatures” New Days Delay managed to imprint themselves on several dance-floors in the gothic- and indie-scene. This new album provides worthy and also dance-worthy successors of these songs, as well as interesting new stylework.

For reasons of change in the bands structure, this album took a bit longer to produce; after first appearances as a trio in 2001, the band now sports five members: Achim, Volker, Chris, Norm and Insa. It seems the band found a more harmonic structure; the live-sound is predominant and with a real drum set and keyboard also gained more flexibility. But it was worth waiting for! The elaborate production of the multifarious songs in the home-based “Wellencocktail Tonstudio” shows a lot of details, which keeps listening to “Erst der Blitz und dann” interesting, even for the second or third time.
