MOBY recorded his latest opus almost entirely by himself - only singer Laura Brown and live drummer Scott Frassetto provided the necessary support here and there - in his New York home studio. But despite the economical use of technical means, the album - in which MOBY completely refrained from using samples for the first time - has become a true masterpiece. With "Hotel," MOBY has secured his place in the Pantheon of Alternative Rock, alongside his friends and personal idols R.E.M., New Order, and David Bowie.
The album is more pop than the previous albums and contains numerous excellent single candidates. The reactions to the first single release "Lift Me Up" are very promising.
