Karl Thesing - Agitated

Analog, authentic, atmospheric: Cologne trio in the here and now.

The recordings for "Agité" (German: excited) are based on the collaboration of Karl Thesing (composition, piano), Sophie Moser (violin, piano) and Ella Rohwer (cello). This came about in 2016 through the recording of the soundtrack for the feature film "Vive la mort" (directed by Thomas Welte). At the first screening, those involved agreed that the film music could be a cornerstone for more. So they got together and worked out a musical concept: The planned songs should primarily be intimate, direct and honest. In addition, the recording situation and the studio atmosphere should be reflected in the compositions. "The goal is to give the listener the impression that he is right in the room of the recording," says Thesing. To make the project even more authentic, the pieces were written especially for the Cologne trio. They retreated to Arno Jordan's Castle Studios in Röhrsdorf Castle near Dresden for the recording of "Agité". Not only was a wonderful 19th-century Bösendorfer grand piano available there, but above all there was the possibility of working highly professionally with analog vintage technology.
