The debut release of the German project AI-Zero (founded by Maikko A., a member of «Human Decay» and «mind.area» bands, together with his collaborator Flesh Wire) is a work in a genre the authors termed «cyberpop».
It's like a report from the future or from a parallel reality where all the dire predictions of cyberpunk adherents have come true: a hard but not fast mechanical rhythm, often oddly broken (and in those moments reminiscent of either dubstep or the cult works of «Haujobb»), creates a dark and mesmerizing atmosphere in its technological complexity, as if calculated by an omnipotent artificial intelligence. At the same time, it's not devoid of ordinary human sentiment, expressed in the regular circulation of melodies and ideas from 80s electronic music, which seemed very futuristic in those early days and has not lost its charm to this day. This is rigid texts criticizing the existing order and simultaneously singing its praises, sometimes calling on you to choose which side you will ultimately be on, it's dark vocals and sampled guitar clang.
This is music that can evoke associations with «Skinny Puppy» as easily as it can recall the "voluminous" epics about the future by «Mind In a Box».
