There's no science fiction or surrealism this time, the\r\nthemes on this album are very much of this world, this reality. That\r\nis one of the reasons why I decided to call it \"The Grey Area\".\r\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI see myself more of a singer-songwriter than an electronic music\r\nmaker (to call myself a musician seems far-fetched since I'm not a\r\nvirtuoso), and more than ever I concentrated on making carefully\r\ncrafted songs with well thought-out lyrics. Despite the difficult\r\ntopics on some of the songs I definitely wanted to avoid the \"Fuck you\r\nfucking cunts\" -type of argumentation, because there's enough moronic\r\nshouting on the Internet already.\r\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\"The Grey Area\" is an appropriate name also because musically it's\r\nkind of an oddball among the electronic releases. Trends or genre\r\nboundaries have nothing to do with the musical output, and to file it\r\nsimply under \"synthpop\" may be a bit misleading. There are the\r\nmelancholic synthpop tunes (Just by Wishing, Beneath the Empty Skies,\r\nGhosts on Photos), but also the new wave-ish, harsher tracks\r\n(Contradictator, Trying Times) as well as the atmospheric \"Double\r\nLife\" and the heavy, lyric-driven songs (Thoughts Like Insects, Every\r\nTime Humankind).
