Varg i Veum is an electronic duo based in Naples, Italy, consisting of Alessandra and Michele (former singer of post-punk act Hapax). Their first album comes in a digipak with an 8-page booklet.
The band combines coldwave’s sonic paradigm with medieval folk elements to build a multi-layered melancholic sound through domineering electronics and heavily reverberated vocal lines.
Thanks to Alessandra’s solid academic background in Germanic philology, the lyrics are largely inspired by Old Norse poetry, but also by English romantics to some extent, restoring with new verses the ancient rhymes in a desolate monological maelstrom.
